Sacha & Family
We first joined Sally’s Grade Lessons when my children were just 3 and 5 years old, and I can honestly say it has been the best activity we have ever taken part in. What began as a fun hobby has grown into something much more meaningful, as my children are now 15 and 18 and still skating at a competitive level.
Over the years, Sally has given them so many opportunities beyond the lessons themselves. They have worked with her teaching Grades, marshalling at the discos, and helping out with parties that she organises. These experiences have not only developed their skating skills but also given them invaluable life skills—learning how to work with both children and adults, growing in confidence, and gaining a real sense of responsibility.
Skating is a challenging activity that requires determination, but with Sally’s expertise, patience, and passion, she makes it both achievable and enjoyable. Her dedication to the sport and to the young people she teaches shines through in everything she does.
We are extremely grateful to Sally for all the opportunities she has provided, not just to our family but to the wider community. For the past 13 years, we have seen first-hand the positive impact she has had on so many children and families, and we truly hope it continues for many more years to come.
Thank you, Sally, for your commitment, encouragement, and for keeping skating such a vital and accessible activity in the community.

I enjoyed your skate sessions , It allowed all generations to mix and have fun together as a male in my late 70’s , it got me out and helped to keep me fit.
It is a safe place for parents and children alike to have fun.

I’ve known Sally since I was just five years old – the age I first put on a pair of skates. From that very moment, she has not only been my coach and mentor but someone who has truly paved the pathway for me to grow into the person I am today. Now, at 18, I skate competitively, and I owe so much of that journey to her constant support, guidance, and the safe space she’s built for so many of us in the roller skating community.
Skating with Sally has never just been about what you do inside the rink. It’s about life skills, building friendships, and being part of a community that truly supports one another. In a town where extracurricular activities for kids are few and far between, Sally has created something really special—a place where younger generations come to learn something new, and older generations are welcomed to dust off their skates and relive their childhoods. It’s a beautiful bridge between ages, abilities, and backgrounds.
Roller skating might seem like a simple pastime, but under Sally’s wing, it becomes so much more. You learn discipline, perseverance, teamwork, and confidence. For me, learning to teach with her—whether it was marshalling at discos or helping people of all ages take their first steps (or rolls!) on skates—has been a turning point. Those experiences shaped my ability to lead, to connect with others, and to reach the accomplishments I’ve made outside of skating. None of it would’ve been possible without her.
Beyond the personal impact, skating brings clear benefits to every child who takes part—physically, socially, and emotionally. It’s fun, energetic, and full of moments that keep you wanting to learn more. There’s always a new skill to master or a new friend to make. It’s a space where kids thrive and where adults feel welcome again. Even children walking out from swimming classes can’t help but peek in and ask, “Can I skate too?”
Sally is so much more than a coach—she’s a mother figure to everyone who walks through those doors. She puts her whole heart into every session and every skater. Her presence brings life not only to the skating program but to the entire sports centre, helping keep the café running and the community thriving. She’s become a key figure in keeping this place full of energy, joy, and connection.
After 13 years of knowing Sally, I can truly say she’s changed my life—and the lives of so many others—for the better. If you’re considering skating, I encourage you to give it a go. You’ll find more than just a sport. You’ll find a family.
Thank you Sally,
Rachel G.
We are so grateful to Sally’s Skates.
It’s not only kept us fit and given us a new skill
but also built confidence, self esteem and resilience.
It’s such a welcoming and inclusive community where all generations learn together,
encouragement and inspiration are in abundance and lasting friendships are formed.
It’s become a special place for us and we’ve shared many laughs and unforgettable moments here.

I came to Sally’s having taught myself to skate recreationally,
but wanted to learn new skills and take my skating to the next level.
I have been able to complete Grades 1-5 with Sally’s tuition which has
put me on a secure footing to pursue skating to a professional level.
There are so few places offering lessons like Sally’s,
so finding her has been able to allow me to further my dream.
I couldn’t have got to where I am now without her.
Sally is warm and friendly with a huge knowledge of skating at all levels and abilities.
She takes the time to show you new skills and how to improve in areas already learned.
Sally has also welcomed me as a skate marshal to help with skate sessions ,
a valuable learning experience and has also boosted my confidence.
I’d recommend Sally’s skating lessons and discos to anyone wanting to learn,
further their skills, or looking to work towards professional skating.

As a parent of a twelve year old child I struggle to find fun,
safe and organised activities in Hertfordshire for my daughter to take part in.
She’s an active child and in recent years youth clubs and other activities have been withdrawn.
Rollerskating on a Sunday is the highlight of my daughter’s week.
It’s great fun for her and also exercise.
She has made new friends and together they enjoy the music and keeping fit
in a safe fun environment. If this activity is withdrawn it would be detrimental
to all the kids and adults that enjoy going regularly.

I started skating with my then 7-year-old a few years back with Sally’s organisation.
At the time, my family was going through the mill with health problems and
my daughter was desperate to learn to skate. But we needed to find a way to achieve it,
whilst protecting the family’s health. Before I knew it,
Sally had amended her usual format to accommodate us.
What we didn’t realise at the time was that Sally’s organisation had a great family feel
which is less and less common. The culture is to include people,
whatever their background ability and position.
Over these years I’ve seen so many people welcomed with open arms who might find
lots of environments difficult. You can’t really put a value on a facility that does this.
I’ve also found people I’ve met people in other parts of the country whilst skating,
that have been instantly interested I Sally’s lessons and Disco.
Subsequently they’ve joined the group, making the journey weekly,
because of the quality of coaching and the group of people.
Personally, once we are already in Watford, we often then spend money in restaurants or
the Watford shopping centre that otherwise wouldn’t happen.
I’m confident this is the same for others. Whilst it’s not a mainstream sport,
the skating community is loyal, committed and would find a way to continue.
If forced to move from the area, it’s the local area that would lose revenue
(direct and indirect) and a group that has grown the exact inclusive environment all communities aim for.

There’s nothing for me to do locally. Youth clubs and other fun things have stopped.
I love Rollerskating on a Sunday and I’ve made new friends and together we meet
every week enjoy the music and keep fit in a safe fun environment.

Sally’s Roller Disco has always had a special place in my heart.
I first started skating there when I was 6 years old at Watford Leisure Centre.
Sally and her team were the most welcoming group of people that always made the lessons
she provides and the roller disco a warm, comforting, happy and safe space.
It helps kids have something that keeps them active that is also so enjoyable at the same time.
It teaches children to be patient as they are learning to skate. Talk to all groups of people,
children and adults at all levels of skating. It has always been a positive environment for everyone , especially children. I became a Marshall when I was 13, the role I had every Sunday taught me to be more confident, patient, caring and it overall gave me a place were I could feel happy teaching children to skate like I was when I was younger.
I am now head marshal at Sally’s and going there every week to Watford leisure centre
is something that I look forward to so much and would hate to see it go.
It has given me a massive role of responsibility. It teaches me to communicate with other people, as that is something I use to struggle with a lot before i started the role.
The hall that the lessons and discos take place in is amazing space that everything that is
needed to run this organisation has a special home in the hall including the skates and entire
shed of all the equipment situated next to the hall.
Overall the discos and lessons are and exceptional service that provides all ages with so much happiness.
It is something that is so unique as there is not many other places in the area
that offer something to special. It is something that brings family’s together to enjoy spending time at the weekend.
You often seen parents skate together with their children with is something so amazing as it provides memories and builds relationships as a whole family.
Sally’s Roller Disco has been there for so many years, and seeing it go would be a huge loss
to many children and family’s of the community.

Sally’s Roller Disco is such a fun place to be! The music, the energy, and the atmosphere makes it perfect for everyone, it doesn’t matter if you’re just learning to skate or have been doing it for years.
It’s a place to have fun ! Plus, Sally, the owner, is the sweetest—she makes everyone feel welcome the moment they walk in.

I am writing to express my sincere thanks and gratitude to Sally’s skating.
My daughter had an interest in roller skating, but we struggled to find anywhere near us that offered opportunities to learn and practice. We were fortunate to find Sally’s Skating, based at Watford Leisure Centre and over the past 3 years my daughter learned the skill of skating through the various grades and was able to be assessed through this for her Duke of Edinburgh Award and since then has progressed to be inducted by Sally’s Skating for becoming part of the coaching team.
She has learned skills from being a student of the group to becoming a teacher to other beginners.
I don’t know of any other such nurturing and encouraging setting for young people and not only that, but all the people who attend are loyal members of the club. They also offer a wonderful birthday party experience for young people to enjoy. Sally’s Skating brings much value to Watford Leisure Centre and the surrounding community as a whole and it would be a huge loss to the venue without them.
Thank you Sally’s Skating for all you have given us and everyone you offer a great experience too.

I am taking my daughters to Sally skating since last 12+ years.
Both of my daughters has started learning journey with Sally and now they participate in
different competitions. They love skating and it’s their passion. This would not be possible without Sally’s . I must say still my daughters goes to Sally’s .
I would definitely recommend Sally’s Skating.

At Sally’s I have not just progressed significantly in my skating skills, competing at the national level, but also found an inspiring community. Sally’s passion and dedication to her students truly make a difference, fostering confidence and a love for skating in both kids and adults. Such a welcoming and safe environment is essential for learning and growth in any sport, which we definitely find at Sally’s.

Sally has had such a huge impact on my life, both on and off the rink. She has always been there to support me, whether it’s with skating or personal challenges, and her kindness and encouragement have made such a difference. She would truly do anything for anyone — her heart is completely with the people and the community.
Through skating with Sally, I’ve grown so much in confidence and built amazing friendships that mean the world to me. I am so grateful for the opportunities Sally has given me within her business to grow and develop.
Helping with lessons, discos, and parties has taught me so many new skills and sparked a real passion for teaching skating. I’ve loved seeing the joy on children’s and adults’ faces when they achieve something new, it feels amazing to be part of a special moment in someone’s day, and sharing in the incredible buzz of the parties is heart warming.
The whole team Sally has brought together is absolutely lovely and the environment she has created is welcoming, supportive, and full of energy. It’s truly something special and completely irreplaceable. What Sally has built isn’t just about skating — it’s about community, belonging, and opportunity. There is nothing else like it. I hope she can continue this amazing work so even more people can experience the same growth, joy and sense of family that I have gained.

Sally’s Roller Skating has been such a positive influence on my children.
Their confidence has grown enormously, and they’ve discovered a real love for exercise through skating & music.
The event at the centre is so well run, with Sally and her amazing team putting in a huge amount of effort to make sure people of all ages and abilities can join in and have fun. Safety is always their top priority. Since my kids joined, it’s become a wonderful family activity that we all enjoy together. We honestly think it’s the best skating centre there is. Thank you, Sally and the whole team, for creating such a welcoming, safe, and joyful space!

I first met Sally when I was 7, and even as a child, I could see how special this place is.
For someone like me, who’s never been particularly into exercise, skating at the disco was the first sport I was ever good at — and that’s what made me fall in love with it and keep coming back. Over the past year, I’ve volunteered as a marshal, and my family has also been involved in helping out. Being part of the team has been an incredibly meaningful experience, but what really makes this place so special is the community Sally has built. Shy children gain confidence, families create memories and even regular visitors who have been coming for over a decade find a true sense of belonging. Sally’s Roller Disco isn’t just a place to skate. It’s a place where people grow, feel included, and find joy — and that’s why it matters so much to all of us.

You won’t find anyone with more knowledge about roller skating. Sally and all the team
offer encouragement, guidance, exceptional teaching with humour and kindness.
Beginners and experts all skate together where everyone can work at their own pace.
Sally has created a true gem where everyone is welcome to join her rollerskating family.

As a Parent.
My daughter and I have been skating at Sally’s since 2022, and it has truly become a highlight of our week. From the lessons to the Roller Disco, we’ve found something we can enjoy together as a family, which is hard to come by these days. The owner and staff have created such a warm, welcoming, and safe environment, ensuring that my children can have fun while staying active. The sense of community here is incredible—every week, we return to see familiar faces, all sharing the same passion for roller skating. There really aren’t many places like this around, so we feel incredibly lucky to have Sally’s in Watford. The supportive atmosphere, combined with the owner’s genuine commitment to making sure everyone has a great time, makes this a place I would wholeheartedly recommend to anyone looking for a new hobby or activity. Whether you’re a beginner or experienced skater, you’ll find a community here that’s passionate, encouraging, and fun!
As a Coach.
I’ve been coaching at Sally’s Roller Disco for about a year now, and it’s been such a rewarding experience. Sally has created a truly positive environment where people of all ages can share in her passion for roller skating. For me, the best part of Supporting Sallys Roller Disco is the instant reward of seeing both children and adults learn a new skill—especially when it’s something they found challenging at first. It’s also a safe and welcoming space for children to skate, away from the streets and in any weather. The sense of community is amazing, and I’ve seen so many people come back week after week, growing in confidence and having fun. It’s a privilege to be part of it!

Sally’s roller skating lessons are absolutely fantastic! All the staff are so supportive and there is such a lovely community feel to the group.

I just wanted to say a quick ‘thank you’ for a fantastic party at Spelthorne last week.
Jess and her friends had a great time and you will be pleased to know that Eve,
the girl who twisted her ankle, is recovering well and has now returned to school.
Many thanks to your attentive staff member who dealt with the incident in a very sympathetic way and was very helpful to Eve and her mum. I will hold on to your details, Sally, as I note it is possible to hire your company for a roller disco party in a booked hall of our choosing. We may have such a requirement in the future so I will be in touch.
Wishing you continued success.
Claudine H.
Tonight we had our eldest daughter and her best friend’s party at Woodside. I wanted to send you an email to say what an amazing time the girls had.
From the moment we got there everything was seamless. All your staff are fabulous and the marshals were so good with the kids. Safety should be no. 1 priority and it certainly was!
Some of our party had never been before at the grand old age of 9-10 whaaaaaat???!!!
They were well looked after especially by the older gentleman on your team.
We are looking forward to many more Saturdays and I think there will be a few new ones coming after today’s successful party.
Thanks again.
Debbie
Sally. Just wanted to thank you for everything you did for my 14 girls yesterday despite me
not booking a party. I appreciated it. Also I intend coming along today for a lesson.
